The Beautiful and Damned: Fashion Film

After a week of editing, thanks to Lauren Jay Howard and myself, my fashion film is finally finished!
I am so proud of it and feel that it has let my creativity run wild through the styling, story, choice of shots..and everything has come together to create a fashion forward, 1920s inspired, piece of film which will entice people to my event at Selfridges.
(This is my project for my Final Major Project at uni, so is not real...yet!)

Check it out, I hope you enjoy it!

(Be sure to watch it in 720p HD to get the full effect!)

The Beautiful and Damned

I have been working on my Final Major Project at university, before graduating in 2 months (scary!) and my project is an event campaign which will give shoppers a unique and exciting experience. To promote this I decided to create a fashion film which could be sent out over the internet and therefore act as a viral marketing tool to reach target customers. I decided that the theme for the event should be the '1920s' due to the release of 'The Great Gatsby' in December and the clear 1920s inspired fashion trends appearing on the catwalks. Here are some of the stills from the film and some still images which correspond.

I was lucky enough to have many other talented individuals involved. I was overall creative director, with Lauren Howard and Lauren Woodfall as film directors to bring the ideas to reality. On set was also Charlotte Collins as the stylist and Joshua McMichael, photographer. On the first day of shooting I was lucky enough to have Make-up and hair done by Alexzandra Cleal and on day two, Charlotte Carrington.
Thanks to everyone who was invovled!

Here are some stills from the first day of filming
(more to come!)

The 1920s theme was mixed with modern to create a high-fashion look.

Here is some of the photo stills from the shooting days.

Nefeli Christofides Textile Designs

I took part in a shoot today for textiles designed by Fashion Textile third year undergraduate, Nefeli Christofides
She has produced fantastic, wild, animal inspired prints which are appealing to the eye and luxurious to touch.
The styling for the shoot, Nefeli said, was inspired by Louis Vuitton Fall 2011

(Kate Moss walking the catwalk for LV A/W11)

The photographs were based around the idea of 'the models as furniture' providing a platform to show the textiles off to their best advantage.

(These photographs from inehome.com influenced)

Here are some images from the shoot.

These shots are so creative, and embody the minimalist vs. animalistic style. Above you can see the models as every type of furniture from book ends to rugs! An exciting shoot to work on!

Dior Couture by Patrick Demarchelier Book

Fashion house Christian Dior creates some of the most beautiful couture garments the world has ever seen and over the years, photographer, Patrick Demarchelier, has captured these through his camera lense. On the 16th of November 2011 a beautiful book documenting these images was published. I will be saving up for it though, as its RRP is around £70 (fingers crossed my beloved amazon sells it for less before christmas)!

Remembering what it's all about, the breath-taking photography by Patrick Demarchelier...

The two above are my favourites. They ooze the luxury and femininity that Dior embodies.

Utter glamour and high fashion exudes from these images. I can not wait to see more of what the book has to offer.

Wild Things

For the first of my third year uni projects, we were set the theme of body_image. And more specifically, women in fashion. I came to the conclusion that in fashion there are too many labels, whether that be 'skinny' or 'fat' or 'plus-size' and wanted to come up with a creative proposition to challenge the fashion stereotypes.

I styled a campaign called 'wild things' which would bring women of a range of sizes together, but the idea was to make it fashion forward and visually arresting so that the issue of size would not be what the viewer would notice first. In turn, I hope this would encourage women of all different sizes to embrace fashion and see that aspirational fashion figures can come in a range of shapes too.

The models names are Amanda, Grace, Charlotte, Roisin and I was in a couple of them too! The hair and make-up were done by Danielle Batey and Alexzandra Cleal. The photographs with the dark backgrounds were taken by photographer Joshua McMichael and the others by myself. The clothes were from a variety of sources, some being from ebay, others were ones the models brought with them and some were from Winchester based vintge clothes shop, Charming Magpies.

The Row

Since we are in the lull before Fashion Week begins later this month, with fashionistas and fashion houses alike tending to last minute outfit changes and show stylings, I thought I would look back at one of my favourite Designers from last season;

The Row was started in 2007 by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. It almost happened by chance, as Ashley set out to design the perfect "plain white tee" for herself and inadvertantly produced a must have garment for women of all shapes and sizes all over America. From there, Ashley and her twin sister, Mary-Kate, have taken the fashion world by storm by creating utterly understated, wearable and yet luxurious clothes in collections which do not disappoint from season to season.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, 2011

The Row's designs are constantly well tailored, made with sumptuous fabrics and styled with covetable accessories.

I love this fur jacket! Perfect with the leopard scarf and shoes!

The running theme of the collection was a form of relaxed tailoring; the high quality tailoring is a constant, with a slight edge appearing in the carrot shaped cropped trousers and oversized, sloping hoods.

The price of the collection remains true to the couture world The Row resides in with a dress setting you back at least £1,000 and a simple t-shirt £200 or more, but with the fabrics and tailoring being second to none, it is worth it for investment and staple basics which will last for years to come.

I for one am looking forward to what they come up with next...

Ibiza Rocks

My friends and I went to go see the inbetweeners movie last night and we thought it was absolutely hilarious! What did you guys think? I think we enjoyed it even more because of the fact that a lot of similar , crazy, memorable things happened in the film that happened to us on our girls 'vaca' to Ibiza just a few weeks ago. It also gave us some major holiday blues...we want to go back!
IBIZA 2012 is calling us!

Here are a few pictures as shrine to our fantastic August holiday to the gorgeous San Antonio Bay in Ibiza

My Purple Dress is from Topshop
Shoes are a friends.
I will miss those beautiful sunsets

Ibiza was a stunning place as well as being full of life. Our nights were filled with dancing and fueled with malibu and lemonades. Our days were spend in the hot hot sun and preferably as close to the sea/pool as possible for regular cool-off dips! My friends and I were smiling constantly and so was everyone else...enough said!

Ibiza Really Does Rock

Hey, my name's Elise and this is my blog, Little Love Bird.

This blog will be a way for me to express myself on anything that takes my fancy; from Fashion to Technology, Gossip to Politics (although, I can promise there won't be much of that unless I am really reaaallly bored!) A few things you should know about me; 1. I love style... many would say I love fashion and I do, but fashions go in and out, style is eternal. 2. I love people... I could people watch all day long and could spend the rest of may days reading autobiographies! 3. I love to travel... I was born in London but was swiftly moved to the USA to live at just a few weeks old and have been back and forth and here and there ever since. If I weren't in fashion, I would loved to have been a pilot! 4. I love LOVE... I think that sometimes people forget how important in life it is to just forget everything else and just love. My family, boyfriend and friends are the most cherished things in my life. 5. I love to be a little random... What's life without a little crazy?! haha

I am currently an undergraduate student about to enter my third and last year of university and then I will be out in the big bad working world with all the big bad bosses....but I cannot wait! The next seven to eight months of my life will be my last in education, so I will have to decide what I want to do with my career (and myself!) indefinitely after that! A scary thought but one I am excited to make!

Just a little general 'hello' there really, I hope you enjoy my blog, Elise x
